Toilet Repair

Is your toilet causing you grief? A toilet that won't flush is a hassle and just plain gross. Worse yet, the problem might not just be the toilet, it could be a larger problem elsewhere in your drains.

Maybe your toilet just seems to run constantly. This is usually a sign that a leak is present and, if so, it could be wasting 50 gallons of water per day! Here’s how you check and see if your toilet is leaking. Just place a few drops of food coloring in the tank and walk away for about a half hour. When you return, check the bowl. If it’s turned color you have a leak somewhere. The culprit could be a dried out washer that needs to be replaced or a loose bolt that needs tightening.

If you are looking to conserve water, a new toilet can help. Older toilets use 7 gallons per flush. To cut down on this consumption, a more efficient 3.5 gallon or 1.6 gallon model should be installed. Don't worry, modern designs still function flawlessly, they just don't use as much water doing so.

Mies Plumbing can help you repair or replace your old toilet. The result will be flawless operation and miserly water usage. Give us a call today!
